Learning English Through Radio

Whether you are cooking, eating, chatting, showering, walking, or sleeping, listening to English radio whilst you do other things is always a good idea.  I have listed here some links that use predominately spoken English, not music.
  
The BBC has loads of materials for improving your English and the radio stations are particularly helpful.   I have included the link to the main website and also some ideas on specific stations and shows.


BBC radio 5 live has lots of spoken English:


Up All Night is a good show with loads of speaking on numerous topic:


NPR is the American equivalent to the BBC and also has a ton of material to use. Here is the link to the main page:

Use the NPR Media Player to manage what you listen to. You can pick stories that interest you and add them to your playlist:


All Things Considered is a good NPR choice:


Australia's ABC station has some great programs:


Their morning news program is pretty good:
 


Remember that English is spoken as a first language in all of these countries, so there's loads more stations out there:
