Comprehensive Reading
Reading books other than your textbooks is a great idea. It not only helps your reading skills, but also your vocabulary development, understanding of collocations, and reading skills. It's also a lot of fun (in my opinion). Take a look at these sites to get you started:

Dictionaries
I often get asked which dictionaries are useful to help with improving your Academic English. A good dictionary should not only include a definition, but also include advice on the following:
- pronunciation/stress
- common collocations
- example sentences
- common synonyms / antonyms

Academic Reading Skills Books
I have used these books in the past for improving student's academic reading skills. Please make sure you check the contents pages and reviews before purchasing.
Reading and Vocabulary Skills Exercises
You can use a lot of the Townsend and Press's online materials for free. They are particularly good for reading and vocabulary skills development.
Academic Writing Books
These two books have come recommended as good to help you with your academic writing skills. The first one is more for Masters/PHD students and the second one is a more general introduction. Take a look at their contents pages and see if they might be useful for you.
